Lead-Free NJ

Objective: Positive Solutions was selected to work with NJ Future on their Lead-Free NJ program. The Lead-Free NJ program is focused on advocacy and education about how lead is impacting communities in New Jersey. This program is focused on grassroots efforts and advocacy with policy makers in Paterson, Newark, Trenton, Camden, and Atlantic City. The goal of all marketing efforts is to ensure that New Jersey’s children are free from lead poisoning and that our environment is lead-safe by advocating for changes to state and local policy. Lead-Free NJ seeks to eliminate racial and economic inequities by focusing on legacy lead hazards in low-income communities and/or communities of color, while also creating the conditions for children to be free from lead poisoning statewide.

Results: Positive Solutions worked with the Lead-Free NJ team to develop comprehensive branding, marketing collateral, and a website that would be received across the State of New Jersey. As a result, Lead-Free NJ’s increased visibility and reach has aided in encouraging individual member engagement and advocacy.

In 2021, the State of New Jersey passed a number of bills that address lead in residential, community, and school water systems and paint, as well as included new provisions for water infrastructure funding in the FY22 state budget. Thanks to the support provided by a strong brand and web presence, Lead-Free NJ’s members continue to amplify the voices of affected individuals and communities to effect long-term change at the local and state levels.
